Sunrise and Sunset

October 26, 2017

God is omnipresent.  He is present through out each day. We have the opportunity to witness His Glory everyday in his Sunrise and Sunset.  Gratitude for the gift of the day should be on hearts every morning.

“Praise the Lord! Praise, O Servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord! Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.  From the rising of the sun to it its setting the name of the Lord is to be praised!  The Lord is high above all the nations and his glory above the heavens.  Who is like the Lord our God, who is seated in high who looks down on the heaven and the earth?” Psalm 113: 1-6

This morning I am writing while the powerful winds and rain are stirring outside my door in Asheville, NC.  There is not a sunrise to be seen, but there is light behind the smoky clouds feeling the atmosphere with majestic mountains behind the haze.  There is light that illumines the day.  I begin the day in gratitude.  Yes, God has given me the gift of the day.  God desires us to start the new day acknowledging His presence and inviting Him into the journey of each day.  His spirit moves faithfully with us in every circumstance.

As His Spirit moves we have the opportunity to give Him glory.  Sharing the day with Him, we pray without ceasing.  Talking to him in our car, sharing a caring word to a stranger, praying for a car accident that we witness, making a meal for our family… whatever each day holds.. we wake up and see the light.  The sunrise reminds us of His light that illuminates this earth is a gift.

"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. " Psalm 118:24

Looking at the Glory of God in nature brings in an inner peace of what is to come, Heaven. Until that day God is giving us opportunities to be His light.  The key is to set our mind on Him. Otherwise, we get caught up in temporal things and not experiencing His peace.  It is so easy to get distracted.  So, in order to focus on the eternal, we must engage in the light, His word.  Remembering this day is a gift.  Jesus will be with us in the moments of the day.  He goes with us moving faithfully in the various variables of the day…

Jesus delights in us.  Breathe in His beauty and the people he puts in our lives.  Be flexible with your agenda aligning your desires with God’s will.  Life brings different pitches.. Watching a lot of the American championships and now the World Series..

  • Changes are inevitable

  • Friendships may come in seasons

  • On a lighter note... Wrinkles appear

  • Sickness and losses are real

But the one thing that never changes- God is faithful

God answered a prayer as we drove back to our inn this past weekend.. I said, “Lord you were so sweet to show us bears as we came in the first day at the inn, but I would love to see some bears tonight. “It wasn’t a few seconds later that we rounded the bend.. there was a mama and two of her cubs..”

As we end each day, a Sunset occurs.  Yes, He is faithful.. The sun sets.. we can count on that..

We all have the opportunity to retreat back to our homes each day being grateful for the day the Lord has made...Recounting the highs and low of the day with our loved ones.  Enjoying a meal together or grapping a bite due to schedules..

Before we snuggle into beds we..

Wash our faces and slip on our nighties or pajamas .... read books to your little ones… or read a great book.. finish a project or watch a tv… whatever it may be …

But before we close our eyes… we should give God glory by thanking him for his faithfulness..

“ To Declare your steadfast love in the morning and your faithfulness by night”

Ps. 92:2

How will we begin and end each day?

 In His love and faithfulness...

Sharon
