Be Still and Know

December 28, 2016

January is fast approaching and the New Year of 2017 will be upon us. There is something magical in the winter months.  As we wake up to the cool fresh air, let the dogs out for an early run, or rush off to work, we breathe this cool refreshing air.  If we rise really early we still may see the moon and the twinkling stars in the atmosphere.  It is magical.  The sight refreshes our soul and we know in the stillness, God is there.

The atmosphere is still, calm, and serene.  The quietness and beauty of winter is the stillness God desires of us. The scene of winter beauty reminds me of the scripture,

“Be still and Know that I am God. “

Psalm 46:10

It is in this stillness and peace where we can hear from Him.  I love the early morning with God, leaning into His word and spending time in prayer.  The Holy Spirit is moving like a river inside of those who put their trust in Jesus.

Christ abides in His children.  As we abide in Him, aligning our will with God’s will, seeking Him, He stirs in us His peace, His desires, and an action plan for the day.  In this life we will have troubles; it says so in His word. His Peace is a “game changer.”

“I have told you all this that you may have peace in Me.  Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart because I have overcome the world.”  John 16:33

These past few months for our family have been filled with both joy and sadness.  We have celebrated a beautiful birth of sweet Eleanora, two engagements of my daughter and son, and now my mother in law, Sarah Moye, is in the hospital on a ventilator.  Our family is praying for her infection from the flu and lungs to be fully restored but at the same time praying for His will.  She has struggled for so long with weak lungs.

In all of these times, both in joy and sadness, it is in the stillness of the day that we know that God is there.  He is the one who causes the earth to spin, brings forth the seasons, and where every breath comes from.

In every season of life, we are constantly learning and hopefully transforming into His likeness.

As we set goals for 2017 and give God the desires of our hearts…

"Be still and know that He is God"

Psalm 46:10

…Asking God to align our will with His will.  He will direct our steps.

“The Heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”  Proverbs 16:9

In the stillness of the morning, seek His face, enjoy His presence, gaze into His creation and Praise His name.

I admired His beauty while soaking up His word this morning, experiencing His presence….. Knowing in the stillness of the day, He is God!

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends.  His mercies never cease. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23

Be still and Know that He is our God, faithful and true.

“Then I saw heaven opened and behold a white horse.  The one sitting on it called Faithful and True.”  Revelation 19:11

As we make our goals and dreams, let us set them before the Lord.   Walk outside and ponder God; gaze into the beauty of the bare limbs, the fading moon and stars of early morn.  Be refreshed with His word and beauty, asking Him to guide your way with His ways.  We then can align our goals, dreams and desires with our Holy God, the One who has the world in the palm of His hands.

Much love and prayers this upcoming year of 2017!  I will be updating my blog, so it may be a few weeks before the next post.  I would appreciate your prayers for my precious mother in law, and for my blog to be updated, always bringing Him Glory!
