Awake and Renew

October 19, 2016

Last week, I shared about spiritual breathing and taking care of mind, body and soul.  Let’s talk about renewing your mind and the importance of the knowing the scriptures.

Starting your day in God’s word is a constant theme in my blog.  There is no better way to begin each day, inhaling the word, and breathing His truth. It is necessary to engage daily in His word to counter the enemy, Satan, and fill our minds with His truth.  I hope these words will encourage you on your journey with God and move us to stay in His word.  As my granddad would say, "Good morning, Glory."  You are loved and God delights in you!

Awake each morning reminding yourself of God’s love for you and His sacrificial love for you!

Begin by opening up His word and preparing for the day.. Fixing your eyes upon God and being led by His truth.  Louie Giglio, pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta, reminded me last week in His sermon on Psalm 23 that God primarily guides us through His word.  We would be remiss if we don’t abide in His word and seek His direction.

“He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3

If we are not abiding with Him moment to moment, we can’t be guided because we are off doing our own thing.  It doesn’t take us long go get off on another path.  We need to fuel our mind mind with His truth,   The seeds are the word of God -   As we open His word, He will instruct us..

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go I will council you with eyes upon you.”  Psalm 32:8-9

I know I need his instruction and want to please God in the day ahead..  His word is the manna that feeds our soul.  This week, I had the opportunity to talk with my daughter, Bekah who has almost completed the world race.  She is in El Salvador, the tenth month of the race.  It brings so much joy to my soul when we can talk.  As she shared these paraphrased words, my heart soared with excitement with Bekah’s love for God and His word.  Bekah said, “Mom, I know spending time with God in the morning is so important, more important than anything.  I don’t care what the rest of the day holds.. I just know that I have to have time with Jesus before anything else.  Everything else can wait.”

Bekah’s heart for Jesus will be contagious for all she encounters.  When we renew our minds by reading his word, our love for God and his truth becomes contagious.  We desire more and more of Him, and we have a lot more of Him to give away.  The word is living and breathing, ready to equip, teach, admonish, bring joy and guide us on the path of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Our good Shepherd wants us to rest in what He has for us; we can’t miss out on preparing our minds for the day ahead.  The enemy of God, Satan, would like to snatch the truth and feed our minds with lies.  God’s children have to have His word to counter the lies of the enemy.  If we don’t know His truth, we are going to lose the battle in our minds to the enemy.  The lie begins in the mind.  That’s the truth my friends. The lie begins in the mind.

If we believe the lie and not His truth; we will begin to take take action in the lie.  But if we can quickly counter His lies with the beautiful truth of His word, we can counter the needless mind games.  We won’t move on the contrary path that is not bearing fruit.

“For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden cause seeds to grow so the Sovereign Lord makes righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.”  Isaiah 61:11

Picture yourself as a beautiful Morning Glory in God’s garden. God is the Master Gardener of that Garden.  He waters the soil with His word and makes His plants grow strong.  He has planted us here on this Earth to share the Gospel to all nations.
