Our Spiritual journey is a breathing exercise. Each morning, we breath in the Holy Spirit, asking Him to fill us with His presence for the day. In the context of my spiritual life, I heard this word “breathe” on my first mission trip to Guatemala. “Breathing” is asking God to fill us with His Spirit and asking Our Heavenly Father to align our will with His. It looks something like this prayer, “Heavenly Father, I thank you for this beautiful day of life you have given me. I want this day to count for your glory. I don’t want to miss any person you would have me to share your love with; help me Father to use my gifts for your glory, lead me to people to make you known. Help me Father to be alive by taking care of my physical needs. Please give me passion for good exercise, and fueling my body so that I can be strong and healthy today, Amen.”

When we receive His filling of the Spirit it gives us a bounce in our step knowing we are seeking Him first, keeping our eyes and ears open for his Spirit to move us.
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33
Breathing in and Breathing out His Sprit is effective because we loosen our control of our lives. This actually helps me make the day count for Him. Here’s an example of Breathing in and Breathing out, but I don’t give you this example to say I have it all together because I definitely don’t. God is continually moving and shaping me..this growth is called Sanctification. He gives grace after grace..
A day for me….
First, as I breathe in, I first spend time in God’s word; asking the Lord to saturate me with His word, so I can apply it to the day ahead. I focus on loving myself and caring and loving others sincerely.
I truly believe we must first remind ourselves of how much our Father God loves us. He paid a debt we can not pay. He suffered on the cross taking our sins so that we would have life and have it abundantly.. Living each day, filled with His Spirit and knowing we have eternal life with God forever. When we believe and trust in Christ, we are saved from eternal destruction. We must remind ourselves of this truth daily so that we would daily be grateful for this kind of love.
So I start breathing in this truth.. He loves me.. He died for me.. Picturing the cross.. He loved me that much..
I surrender control.. Thank Him.. Breathe in…
Wow, after the reminder of God’s sacrificial love and reading His word.. I am ready to face the day and Breathe out His truth….
God's truth today.. that I will renew my mind...
“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:22-23
I will think of this truth all day.. Breathing in, Breathing out, His truth and Love..
Second, I go to Pure Barre, a beautiful barre class that helps connect my mind with my body. It works my muscles with isometric movements. After class, I am now energized to plan our weekly menu.
Third, planning the menu helps me be intentional with a healthy diet and not eating out too much for dinner. I love looking through magazines such as Real Simple or Cooking Light to get all of my ideas. I am not afraid of trying something new.
After looking at my family’s schedule, I plan accordingly. So, my fall menu for this week looks like this:
Monday- Chicken and Avocado Rice bowl- Real Simple- October
Tuesday- Chicken Under a Brick- Real Simple- October
Wednesday- Roasted Salmon with Crispy Broccoli and Quinoa, Apple crisp for dessert
Thursday- Sausage Lentil Soup with Baguettes
Friday-Out to Eat..
Saturday- Turkey Burgers, Sweet Potatoes Fries with Arugula Apple Salad
Sunday- Breakfast dinner.. Eggs, Toast and fruit
Fourth- I go to the grocery store and stock the pantry and fridge for the week ahead.

Breathing in His Spirit…. Breathing out His Spirit…
As we Breathe in God, His living Spirit, reading His Truth, exercising and preparing the menu for the week ahead equips us to live fully for God. To live abundantly in Christ, we must be intentional with our routine. Now, we are ready for the Spirit to breathe out the fruits of the Spirit: Love Joy Peace Patience Kindness Goodness Faithfulness Gentleness and Self Control
Have a beautiful week, breathing in His Spirit and hopefully you received a few ideas for your meals this week..
