A journey with God means Abiding with Him. Abide means to dwell, to sojourn, to stay and to remain. As I abide with Jesus on this journey of life I look less and less to the former nutrients I held to for satisfaction. God is enough. Abiding in the Vine, God, the Tree of Life, daily feeding on His word, praising and enjoying fellowship with Him, these fill my cup.. His joy overflows….When we are abiding in Him.
When we read His living word, God breathed, His words of truth spring forth life to our soul.
The word of God gives the proper nutrients to bare good fruit. I learned from my counselor that when we abide from the Vine, we live from Him. When we live apart from the Vine we live on our resources, trying and performing harder..
It says in John 15:5 which is our family’s verse:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart for me you can do nothing.”
The only way to bear beautiful fruit for God is staying in the Vine. In the book of Isaiah, Isaiah calls believers, “ Oaks of Righteousness.” The meaning of oaks in the Hebrew language denotes the terebinth tree - a lofty, strong and magnificent tree. So, it makes sense that we can do all things through Christ that strengthens us. When we live apart from the Vine, we don’t bear good fruit.
“We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. Isaiah 64:6
Only when we stay connected can we see beautiful fruit...
" Abide in me, and I in You. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” John 15:4
This is my prayer for all new readers of my blog: Don’t let your past dictate your future in Jesus. Abide in Him daily by reading His word. A great place to start is the book of John.
God is waiting for you; ask Him to give you a heart to know Him better. Solomon prayed for himself and the Israelites, “The Lord our God be with us as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us, that he may incline our hearts to him to walk in in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes and his rules, which he commanded our fathers.”
As we create this habit of reading and praying daily, abiding becomes like breathing. Breathe in Jesus, breathe out Jesus. We crave His word more and more and truly delight in Him. He always delights in us!

The secret to a joy filled life is Abiding in Him.
