Garment of Praise

March 9, 2016

In chapter 61 in the book of Isaiah, the prophet, Isaiah, foretells the restoration of Israel after captivity.  Isaiah shared the following words with the people of Israel.

Isaiah 61:1-3;10-11

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,

Because the Lord has anointed me

To bring good news to the poor,

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captive, and the opening of the prison to those that are bound,

To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God;

To comfort all who mourn:

To grant to those who mourn in Zion

To give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,

The oil of gladness instead of mourning,

The Garment of Praise instead of a faint spirit,

That they may be called oaks of Righteousness,

The planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.

……….

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord:

My soul shall exult in my God,

For he has clothed me with Garments of Salvation:

He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself like a priest with a beautiful headdress, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels,

For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to sprout up,

So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to sprout up before all the nations.”

In a commentary that I read in Biblehub.com the Garment of Praise was described as a bright robe instead of a black robe.  Jesus transforms us by clothing us in His righteousness.  No more black robes; instead, beautifully clothed in bright linens.   Isaiah is sharing the hope of being set free from captivity and freedom in Christ.

This is the Good News …Jesus Christ.  God sent His only son, Jesus to pay our debt.  His death, the blood He shed on the cross covers all our sins - past, present and future... If you believe in Jesus, no more faint spirit, but a spirit of praise… Praising Jesus all the time.  We can walk with grace, love and beauty... Jesus loves us and clothes us with a Garment of Salvation...

No more faint spirit.. but a Garment of Praise…

“But as it is, He, (Christ) has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.  And just as it appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.” Hebrews 9:26b-28

Jesus paid the full debt that we can not pay.  When we confess our sins He truly is faithful and just to forgive all our sins.  We don’t have to try and earn our way by performance.  His grace is a free gift and out of His love for us we desire to live for Him.  He takes our past failures and gives complete forgiveness.   We no longer need to live as a victim but fully alive in Him.

                        Through faith in Jesus,

                                  He alone

                                     is the

                           Hope and Joy Giver.

God sent His Son, the ultimate rescuer, to set us free from sin and restore us back to Him. Without the hope of a Savior, we live as captives mourning, stuck in our shame not living free.  But, praise God who sent His Son Jesus to set the captives free!

God has freed me from myself, it is no longer I that live but Christ in Me.

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself  for me.” Galatians 2:20

I am His and He is Mine

I look forward to reading God’s word daily and praying to a Mighty God.   As you spend time with God and build a relationship with Him; He transforms you!!  The Garment of Praise is no longer a faint spirit but a vibrant spirit full of joy and love. God is love..  So the more and more we spend time with a loving God, we become loving and desire Him.

His love spreads out through us like a Garment of Praise.. a pleasing beautiful aroma..
